Tello was launched in 2016 and uses the T-Mobile network. You can use them for talk, text, and data plans, just like you would with any cell phone company.

Is Tello a good deal? How much is Tello?
Yes, Tello may be a great deal for you.
You can find cell phone plans through Tello priced between $5 to $39 each month. There are no fees (no activation, maintenance, or early termination fees), there are no contracts, and Tello has nationwide coverage.
Tello’s phone plans include:
- For $10 a month, you can get 1GB of data, plus unlimited minutes and free text messages.
- For $29 a month, you can get 8GB of data, plus unlimited minutes and free text messages.
- For $39 a month, you can get unlimited data (this is 25GB 4G LTE/5G), plus unlimited minutes and free text messages.
Plus, many other options. You have the option to build your own plan when you are on Tello’s website so that you can have the most affordable option for you. You can mix and match the data plan and minutes that you want so that you can have the most custom plan for your situation.
Can I keep my current phone number if I switch to Tello?
I completely understand that this is a very important question when it comes to possibly switching the cell phone carrier that you use.
Yes, you can definitely keep your existing cell phone number if you switch to Tello.
Many people use this reason as an excuse for why they do not want to switch their cell phone plans or companies. But, this is an easy thing to do so that you can save money.
You can transfer your cell phone number to Tello for free. You can do this all online and Tello makes it easy to do so with their easy steps on their website. It usually takes anywhere from 2 hours to 2 business days for the transfer to take place.
Can I bring my own phone to Tello?
Yes, you can bring your own phone to Tello. You’ll simply want to make sure it’s compatible which you can do easily on the Tello website.
You can use one of Tello’s cell phones which start at just $129 (such as the LG Stylo 5), use GSM phones, or bring certain unlocked cell phones (unlocked iPhone models from 6 to SE and Nexus 5 to 6P).
Other Tello phones that you can purchase on their website include the Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, refurnished iPhones, and more.
I was able to use the iPhone that I already own with no issues.
How does Tello pay as you go work?
Tello has an interesting Pay As You Go service. You simply create a free Tello account, purchase credit, and then you can start using your pay as you go plan.
With their Pay As You Go plan you can make local, national, and international phone calls, send and receive text messages, and use mobile data nationally.
Does Tello work with iPhone?
Yes. I put my Tello sim card into an iPhone and it worked perfectly. I am able to make phone calls, text message others, use my phone as a hotspot for internet, and everything else that you would normally do with a phone.
Does Tello offer hotspot?
Yes! I was able to hotspot off my Tello plan and work just fine for several days in a row.
You can turn your cell phone into a hotspot with free tethering, so that you can connect when you need it.
Does Tello require a contract?
There are no contracts or fees with Tello. You can come and go as you please.
What network does Tello use? Does Tello have good coverage?

What countries can I call for free with Tello?
With Tello, you get free international phone calls and texting to over 60 countries. Some of the countries included are:

For countries that are not free, Tello also offers Pay As You Go rates by the minute. For example, I can call someone in the Bahamas for 23.50 cents per minute through Tello Mobile.
Do Tello minutes rollover?
Your unused data or minutes do not rollover.
How do I join Tello?
It’s easy to join Tello. Simply:
- Head to the Tello website
- Check the coverage map and select a cell phone plan
- Decide if you’ll purchase a cell phone through Tello or bring your own phone (I was able to use the iPhone I already own)
- Then, you’ll receive your Tello SIM card in the mail and you can start using your Tello cellphone plan
You can even bring your existing phone number to Tello, so you don’t need to worry about that.
Tello Review Summary – How good is Tello?
With Tello Mobile, you can get a wireless plan starting for just $5 a month. They have unlimited plans too, plus no contracts or fees.
You can even easily keep your existing cell phone number, so don’t let that hold you back either.
I personally used Tello Mobile to try it out and I thought the service was great. I had no issues and I recommend it as an easy way to save money each month on your cell phone bill.
