16 Nighttime Side Hustles

Below are 16 side hustles that can be done at night.

1. Sell printables

Selling printables is an awesome nighttime side hustle for many reasons, including semi-passive income potential, a flexible schedule, low startup cost, and digital delivery (so there’s no dealing with shipping anything).

People love buying printables because they are instant products that can be used right away; customers just need to print out the printable. As a bonus, people can print the printable as many times as they want, which adds value to your product and makes it an easy sell.

This side hustle can be done entirely at nighttime too, all from your laptop.

I recommend signing up for the Earn Money Selling Printables free training if you want to learn more. You’ll learn printable ideas, how to get started on Etsy, and how to actually make sales.

Starting a blog is a flexible way to make money on your own schedule, and it’s one of my favorite ways if you want to learn how to make money at night from home.

With just a domain and hosting, you can start writing blog posts you think other people might be interested in. Over time, blogs can make money through advertising, sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, or by selling products and services.

Running a blog can be a great way to start a scalable business and bring in extra income each month.

I have worked on my blog at night for many, many years, so I know that this is definitely possible.

Beginner proofreaders start at about $15 an hour, with more experienced proofreaders earning close to $50 an hour. You can find jobs on Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, and other freelance gig websites.

4. Bookkeeping

Bookkeepers are always in high demand, especially with the rise of small businesses and people not knowing how to manage their business finances.

According to the Department of Labor and Statistics, around 100,000 new jobs in this industry are opening in the United States every year. You don’t need a degree to become a bookkeeper, but you do need training to learn how to do everything properly. This is something you can learn, so don’t let that stop you!

Freelance bookkeepers typically make between $20 and $50 an hour, which is great money while you’re working from home.

5. Answer online surveys

Making money by answering online surveys is one of the quickest and lowest effort ways to make money in your spare time.

While you won’t get rich from this, people can make around $15 in two hours by filling out questions right from their phone. There are a lot of survey sites to choose from, with many even giving you a sign-up bonus just for signing up and filling out your profile.

6. Play games on your phone

If you like playing games on your phone anyway, this can be a fun way to make extra money at night.

My sister tried this side hustle and made $302.80 in one week playing a game on her phone. She was able to do it on her own time, mainly in the evenings (after her daughter went to sleep), which makes it a flexible option for busy parents or anyone with a day job.

One of the most popular game apps is Swagbucks.

7. Write a book

Believe it or not, you can also make money by writing a book. You can write all types of books, like short how-to guides, health and wellness guides, romance or thriller fiction, and more.

It’s helpful to pick a niche by seeing what is popular and in demand. Here are some blog posts that you may find helpful:

Books are, of course, something you can write in whatever time you have available – such as in the evenings or at night!

8. Freelance writing

I’ve been freelance writing since I graduated from high school, and it’s a great way to make extra money on your own schedule. You can write blog posts, website copy, social media content, email newsletters, and so much more.

Sites like Upwork, Fiverr, and even LinkedIn post freelance writing gigs. It’s important to have quality writing samples and continually build your portfolio.

9. Virtual assisting

I’ve been working as a virtual assistant for several years now and love it. I do a variety of tasks, including writing blog posts, graphic design for social media, managing social media platforms, and more.

You can find virtual assisting jobs on remote job board websites or by creating your own business and reaching out to people on your own (which is a lot easier when you have great references and have been doing it for a while). I love these types of jobs because you can learn new skills and increase your earnings over time.

10. Video editing

Video editing can be done at any time and remotely, making this a great nighttime side hustle.

A video editor is in charge of editing videos for YouTube creators, businesses, social media influencers, and more. Tasks typically include things like trimming clips, adding transitions, text overlays, music, and more.

You can find jobs on gig websites like Upwork, Fiverr, or Freelancer.

11. Babysitting

Babysitting in the evenings for special events like date nights is a great way to earn extra money.

One of my side hustles for a long time was date night babysitting, and I always found my gigs on Care.com. You can also market your services on flyers and post them around town, or share in a neighborhood Facebook group that you’re offering date night babysitting services.

Whichever route you take, you must offer reviews or references, and even better, a background check (which is available on sites like Care.com), so people think it’s a no-brainer to hire you.

12. Rideshare

Ridesharing on apps like Uber or Lyft is a great way to make extra money in your free time.

The benefits of being a rideshare driver include working a flexible schedule, taking as many or as few jobs as you want, the opportunity to meet new people and build your customer service skills, and immediate earning potential with tips.

Peak hours tend to be in the evening and on weekends, making this a great job opportunity for people who are only available in the evenings and at night.

13. Bartending

Bartending jobs are often at night, so if you’re feeling social and want some time outside of the house, bartending is a great way to pick up some extra money.

Places that are hiring often have flyers on their front door saying they are hiring, but you can also check out job boards and talk to people in the industry to see who is hiring. People can potentially make a lot of money bartending since it’s base pay plus tips.

14. Selling homemade goods and crafts online

Are you crafty and want to sell your homemade goods and crafts? If you don’t have time to sell these items at fairs and markets, you may want to try selling them online, either directly through your website or by using a site like Etsy.

You can sell crafts like pottery, jewelry, candles, knit/crochet goods, stationery, and even upcycled items. A lot of the work can be done at night. But you will have to do things like ship the product to the buyer during the day (because that is when places like the post office are typically open).

15. Janitorial

A common evening job you might not have thought of is janitorial work.

These jobs are often for evening work, as offices need cleaning when everyone is out of the office. I know someone who did janitorial work, and they did it at night after their day job.

To find these jobs, search job boards like Indeed using keywords like night janitor, overnight cleaner, or commercial cleaning. You can also go to places in person and ask if they are hiring and ask about overnight cleaning positions.

16. Security

Similar to evening janitorial work, there are many security jobs at night.

You can find these by searching job board sites with keywords like night security, overnight security guard, or patrol officer. Malls, commercial buildings, hospitals, and construction sites often need evening security.

These jobs can usually pay between $14 and $22 an hour, depending on location and experience.
