I Need To Get Back On Track and Weekly Update

We received one more sneak photo from our photographer, and it is above. I am in LOVE with it! Some of the bridesmaids and groomsmen aren’t in the picture, but it’s still a good one 🙂

I also find it funny that there are FIVE people holding up my dress so that it wouldn’t get dirty, but in the end it still got really muddy and dirty. I still need to get it cleaned and stored away. How much does that usually cost anyway?

Wes leaves soon and he is hiking a few segments of the Colorado Trail with a friend. They plan on doing around 70 miles in one week. It will be his longest hike, and we are hoping to go back together one day and hike the whole Colorado trail together (I believe it’s around 400 miles).

My sister is also leaving soon. She is moving to Chicago. I can’t believe the day is almost here for her to leave. I am so sad! I really didn’t think I would be THIS sad, but I am. I will miss you Lexy! I’ve pretty much been raising her these past few years since my dad passed away, so it’s like seeing a child away off to college. AH! 🙁

Also, make sure to come back on Monday because I will be celebrating my 3 year blogiversary with a BIG giveaway. Can you believe it’s already been 3 years?!

What To Think About Before Having An Outdoor Wedding Plus Craziness That Happened At Ours

What To Think About Before Having An Outdoor Wedding Plus Craziness That Happened At Ours

Our wedding took place on June 7th, 2014. It was a great day, and in the end our wedding cost around $22,000.

We had a completely outdoor wedding ceremony and reception, which ended up costing us a lot of stress towards the end. Having an outdoor wedding was extremely beautiful, but there were a TON of different things to think about.

Would I do it all over again?

YES! I would choose an outdoor wedding over an indoor one any day.

But there is a lot of planning to do beforehand.

Is it cheaper to have an outdoor wedding?

NO! [Read more…]

July Goals and Life Update – We’re Going On A Cruise!

Hello everyone and happy July! I know, I know, I am late with publishing my July goals and June goals update. I have no excuse for this.

June was another good month for me. I got married, went on a 2 week long road trip to Colorado and Utah, I made $12,787 in June, and overall it was just a fun month.

We are still waiting on our wedding pictures, but we did get a few early pictures from our wedding photographer (I posted those the other day). They were amazing and I can’t wait to see the rest.

How Much Did Our Wedding Cost? – $22,230

How Much Did Our Wedding Cost? - $22,230Hello! Our wedding took place on June 7, 2014. It was a great day, but I am glad it is over.

Towards the end, there were just so many wedding expenses and I was spending so much time planning just one day. I am happy that we planned an ahmaaaaazzzziinnnngg wedding, but I’m glad that I can just think about the memories now 🙂

Right before the wedding, I had some expensive wedding regret. I know that we are technically below the average amount that is spent on a wedding (the average is around $26,000), but I still thought I would be way below where we were.

Don’t get me wrong though, we LOVED our wedding. It was the best day ever for us, and many people told us we had the best wedding that they had ever attended. That’s a win for me! The day did go by extremely fast though, I wish I had more time for it.

Oh yeah, I’m still waiting on the professional pictures, so there will probably still be a few more wedding posts to come. I can’t wait until I get those! I will be doing a full review on the different vendors we used, products that we loved, how we DIYed the wedding flowers, expenses we wish we would have skipped, and more. If you have anything that you would like me to cover in the future, please let me know.

10440714_10202064408394137_9069318928610348857_nHello! I can’t believe it’s already the middle of June. 2014 is just flying by.

As most of you know, our wedding was this past Saturday. It was a lot of fun and definitely very memorable. Lots of crazy things happened (all related to the weather) but luckily everything worked out well in the end.

I won’t lie, I am both happy and sad that the wedding is over. It was one heck of a party, and I am sad that all of the fun and planning is over with.

However, I am also happy that it is over because I can start focusing on other things in life. I haven’t been as focused on seeking out new freelancing clients and growing my business, which is something that I really need to get back to doing.

The 5 Best Financial Tips We Received As Newlyweds

Last Updated: December 26, 2020 BY Michelle Schroeder-Gardner - 14 Comments

Enjoy this post by Dustin! Wes and I have always been a little different – we’ve had combined finances for over 7 years and have always made joint financial decisions (I know, that scares a lot of people), but it all worked out for us since we are now married 🙂

My wife and I got married shortly after we finished college. Needless to say, we didn’t have much to write home about regarding our income.

During those early years, we bought a lot of two-buck chuck from Trader Joe’s, chose not to have cable, and lived frugally. Being newly married brings a lot of excitement and a lot of change. It’s important to discuss and be aligned on your finances as a couple, particularly because finances are one of the most common sources of conflict in marriages.

Even with the excitement of being newly married, our finances were never an easy topic of conversation. Thankfully, we received some incredibly good advice during our second year of marriage from a wise friend about finances – below are the five things he told us that we had to do to be successful financially and in our marriage.

I Got Married!

Hello everyone! Short post today. Saturday, June 7, was our wedding day. It was a crazy day, and tons of things went wrong (severe thunderstorms, a tornado, lost vendors, and more) but I’ll get to that later. It was still a great day and I don’t think I could have asked for anything better.

Here are some photos from our Fish Eye Photobooth. If you are in the St. Louis area, I really recommend that you check out Fish Eye Fun. They were amazing, and Ben was still upbeat even though the weather wasn’t so great in the beginning…

Everyone raved about the photo booth at our wedding, and it’s not like your normal photo booth. It’s about 1,000 times better!  I have been looking at the pictures all day (there were 399 altogether that he took) and ALL of them made me laugh.

Anyway, here are some photos from our wedding from guests (the last two at the end) and the rest are from Ben at Fish Eye Fun.
