I’m splurging on my hair…

I’m finally getting my hair permed and cut.  I try and get a hair cut every 3-4 months, but I’ve never gotten a perm, so I’m a little nervous. My hair is stick straight and yes I know, many people would love to get out of the shower and their hair just be straight, but I honestly can’t stand it anymore.  I want CURLY hair!

And  I can’t curl my hair.  My hair can’t keep a curl to save my life.  I’ve tried to get it professionally done, but my hair would fall limp before I left the salon. My stylist is hoping that my hair will take hold of the perm without having to try repeatedly.

Well, not suuuuper curly, I’m just getting a wave perm.  Hopefully it’ll look something like the picture above.  I’m also getting bangs, which is also a big difference.

So, in the end I’m hoping for something like the hair above.  I hope it actually looks good.  This is quite the splurge.  Hair is one thing that I don’t mind spending money on, because I’ve had my fair share of bad haircuts.  The total will be around $150 with tip, so this is a lot of money to me.  I’ll keep you all updated, as my appointment is next week – just changed it to TODAY.

What do you not mind splurging on?

My 5 Guilty Pleasures

I have many guilty pleasures, but here are my top 5.

  1. Forever 21, the clothes are cute, but are cheap and don’t last long.
  2. And then on the opposite side, JCrew.  I’m addicted to their website, and I wish I had enough money to buy everything.  I would say this is almost a problem.
  3. Reality TV and gossip magazines
  4. Mexican Food.  I could eat it every day and people think I’m crazy.  I have ate Mexican food everyday of the week before.
  5. And my last one is reading the news all day long.  I read around 5 newspapers and magazines a day, and countless articles online.  It’s a problem, but I want to know EVERYTHING. I once checked the history on my computer to see how much I read in one day, and I was at 863 articles, in about 8 hours into the day!

What are your guilty pleasures?

What you wear to a job interview is VERY important.  It can make or break you.  But what do you wear and how do you know what to wear?  If you haven’t done so already, check out my past posts about interview advice or resumes .  Also check out Anna’s two posts on resumes and phone interviews.

There are many different dress codes for businesses.  It might be casual, business casual, business professional, trendy, and so on.  It depends on the company and the career you chose.  A person who is interviewing for a finance corporate job most likely won’t wear the same thing as a fashion assistant would (I would hope not at least).  Here’s a great article on different dress codes.

Since I was dressing for a finance job, I dressed more business professional. All of these items can be found at The Limited.

Your shoes should also be plain and match (preferably black).  Your makeup should be basic, nothing too crazy.  Again, like I said, this is for the finance world. I’m a big fan on J.Crew, Limited, Express, LOFT, and the like.  Of course these places are all SUPER expensive, especially J.Crew.  I try to only shop when I have a coupon or when items go on sale.

Here’s a great post for those in the fashion/creative world.  And here are some sites with interview blunders, here and here.

What would you wear to an interview in your field? Where do you shop?
