14 Popular Posts in 2014 on Making Sense of Cents Home Office PictureIt's the last day of 2014! Today, I am wrapping up the year and bringing you the best posts in 2014 all in a perfect package just for you readers. I know, I know, I am too nice!

I hope all of you have a great time celebrating the new year. Stay safe tonight.

Frugality Related

Living In A 200 Square Foot Tiny House – Could You Do It? – Tiny homes have been very popular lately. I love looking at them, but I don't think I could ever live in one. Another post related to this is I Live in a 175 Square Foot Tiny Home – Sailboat Living.

7 Things I Won’t Cut From Our Budget To Save For a Down Payment – I will do some things in order to save more money, but there are other things I will not do unless I absolutely need to. Life is meant to be enjoyed as well!

How To Save 50% Or More Of Your Income – With over 9,000 pins on Pinterest, this was definitely one of my most popular posts on Pinterest this year. There are several ways to lower your budget so that you can save 50% or more of your income. This can be a great thing to do as you will most likely have less money-related stress. Who doesn't want that?!

Frugality And Ethics – When Is It Stealing? – I don’t think there is anything wrong with saving money and I am frugal myself, but when does saving money turn into theft?

College Related

How I Graduated From College In 2.5 Years With 2 Degrees AND Saved $37,500 – I was able to shave a few semesters off my college degree and a lot of money was saved because of this. In this post, I talk about the many ways that you may be able to graduate early and get a head start on your career.

Should I Ruin My Retirement By Helping My Child Through College? – This is a topic that many people have mixed feelings about. For me, I don't think a parent should ever risk their retirement in order to help a child through college. However, if you are on track, then do whatever you want, of course. Just remember there are loans for college, there are not loans for retirement though.

Ways You May Be Wasting Money

Reasons You’re Still In Debt – If you are in debt, then you need to read this post. There are many common reasons for why a person might be in debt, so lets stop this vicious revolving cycle today.

The Worst Money Advice I’ve Ever Heard – I've heard a lot of really bad money advice over the years. One of the bad advice givers in this post is someone who recommends that others take out student loans to pay for vacations, time shares, and more. AHHH!

When Being Cheap Backfires – My Hotel Mistake – Earlier this year, I tried to save money on a vacation by staying at a cheap hotel. That backfired because the hotel had blood stains, an awful smell, and more… This then led to another post – 6 Ways Being Cheap Can Cost You Money.

Should You Get a Prenup? – There are many situations out there that call for a prenup. You never know what may happen in the future, and you may actually be putting your family's investments at risk in some situations.

Extra Income and Career Related

Ways To Make Pennies, Hundreds or Thousands A Month By Blogging – There are many ways to make money blogging. You can place advertisements on your blog in the form of sponsored posts, review affiliate products, form partnerships with brands, and more.

10 Things I’ve Done To Make Extra Money – I've done many things in order to make extra money. Like I always say, if you want to get ahead in life and reach your financial goals a little bit more quickly, making extra money can really help you do that.

How I Make Working From Home Work For Me – Whether we’re talking about working from home for yourself, or working from home for others, those who work from the comfort of their home usually experience similar problems and situations. Also, October of 2014 marked one year since I quit my day job!

Would You Rather Work For Less Money Or More Money? – This question isn't as easy as I made the title sound. Would you rather follow your passion if it meant you were going to make less money? Or would you rather work in a position that you really hated so that you can earn more money?

Sucks about the hotel room […] ever since I got married, the bottom of the barrel deals have gone out the window. Hope you left nasty feedback on trip advisor.

What peaks did you summit in CO? I didn’t get as many done as I would like, but I summited around 15 new 14ers in 2014 [the solo bell’s traverse is my crown jewel for the year].

I did Mount Evans in CO and Mount Ryan in California. That is amazing that you did 15 new 14ers in 2014!

Great list Michelle!! I really loved your “is it stealing” post. I still think about some of those situations and wonder whether or not it’s stealing. Anywho, I hope you enjoy your first New Year’s Eve as a married woman! See you in 2015!!
