It is a fantastic feeling to sit in the driver’s seat of your new car for the very first time. However, do you feel guilty about spending money on getting a new vehicle when the old one can still just about do a job for you?
The truth is that there are certain tell-tale signs that will let you know that now is the time to get ahead and get a new car after all. Are you currently experiencing any of the following symptoms that prove that you need a new car in your life?
You Are Embarrassed to Drive Your Car
Do you know what it is like to spend ages looking for a parking space far enough from your workplace so your colleagues never get to see your car? Do you only take it out after dark or when the streets are quiet? Is it always mysteriously unavailable when you go out with your partner or friends?
If you have a car that embarrasses you then you probably won’t enjoy using it or get as much use out of it as you should do. Just think how much more satisfying and fulfilling life would be if you were to drive a car you really loved. The vehicle you choose is a symbol of your tastes and a status symbol as well. Most of us wouldn’t feel comfortable with the idea of being defined by the car we drive but we can’t get away from the fact that other people pay a lot of attention to what we drive. If you want to feel comfortable and assured behind the wheel you need a better car.
Some people don't care about what kind of car they drive, whereas others really get a lot of joy out of it. It doesn't mean that you are materialistic – different people enjoy different things in life.
It is Dangerous to Drive
More serious than the previous point is the situation in which an old car has now become dangerous to drive. This is a potentially life threatening problem that really need to be sorted out as quickly as possible. Older cars can start to go wrong in a number of ways, such as the brakes starting to fail, the steering going wrong or the engine cutting out. Most older cars start to fail in less dangerous ways, such as not starting in the mornings. However, you will probably still start to feel uneasy about driving it once it start to show signs of being past its best. These other failings can also be a pain and can cause you to be constantly late for work or make you very frustrated at not being able to get started as quickly as you would like each day.
It Is Costing You Too Much Money
There are a number of ways in which an older vehicle can start to cost its owner a lot of money. Perhaps the most obvious one is when there are constant bills to pay for repairs. If it breaks down or has problems on a regular basis then the cost of sorting it out can soon start to mount up. Another possibility is that it is more expensive to insure than many modern cars.
Insurance premiums are worked out using a number of factors and older cars can sometimes cost more. For example, if replacement parts are now scarce or expensive then it is going to cost the insurance company more if they ever need to fix it. While newer cars are often more valuable, the fact that they are well designed and generally easy to find parts for can make them cheaper to repair. With a newer vehicle and an online car insurance comparison site you can work out how cheap it could be to get it covered.
It Is Contaminating the Planet
Anyone who wants to live an environmentally friendly life is sure to be unhappy about driving an old car these days. Car technology has improved considerably in recent years and there are now some incredibly green cars to choose from. Maybe you have started to notice that your car is puffing out a lot of nasty smoke or perhaps you want to try riding around in a modern electric or hybrid vehicle that doesn’t contaminate the planet. If we were all to switch to greener vehicles it could make a big difference to the world.
