Football fieldThe following is a post from a fellow blogger. Enjoy!

I was reading a post here on Making Sense of Cents the other day titled How To Manage a Side Business While Traveling.  I personally run a variety of online sports betting sites, with the main one being SportsBetListings.com.

The article gave me some insight into how to keep up with my websites while on a 90 day sports road trip that I have planned with a friend.

But on top of just maintaining my sites I want to take it one step further and make money from my trip, while also maintaining my side business. This would result in my trip being more profitable than if I were to just stay home.

My Trip

I guess I should start with a bit of an overview of this trip that my friend and I have planned.  We are both huge sports fans and decided to go on a sports road trip from September to December this year.  We plan to attend 60 sports games in 90 days and have set up a site called TheBandwagoners.com, as well as a Facebook page and Twitter account for people to follow us on our adventure.

Our Making Money Plan

As mentioned, our trip is centered on attending sporting events.  This meant that we had to come up with a money making stream that we could implement by attending these events.  As mentioned earlier I am already very familiar with the online sports betting industry and have some good relationships with managers at various top online sports books.

Therefore, for me it was obvious.  Sports betting goes hand in hand with attending sporting events so why not promote online sports betting while on our trip.

My friend and I have since proceeded to create some trip dedicated websites and offline marketing materials, namely business cards; to hand out to people we meet at these events.  Even if we don’t reach our goal of being profitable on this trip, every sign up will lessen the cost of this sports road trip that we had already been planning!

Other Possibilities

While traveling there is always a chance for some type of promotion.  Create a blog, Facebook page and Twitter account for your trip and just mention them to the people that you meet along the way.

You could promote anything that you are passionate about from a daily supplement that you take on your travels to the website that you use to book your accommodation.  Even if you don’t know what to promote website visitors and other followers can always be converted to some form of customer at a later date.

Of course traveling with some sort of theme, like our sports road trip is easier, but making some money is possible on any type of trip.

Have you thought about making money while traveling?

What a tip, that really made my day inspiration-wise. I suppose betting was the natural choice once you have decided to attend plenty of sport events, but even then, making such an effort is tremendous and you will surely be rewarded by success further down the line!

I love doing promotions, because I’m also a total product junkie. Some tourism organizations will actually send you on a free trip to promote the area 🙂
