Hey everyone! Happy Friday. I’m currently in St. Thomas and most likely I am having a blast. Well, actually, I’m probably sleeping right now…  I was inspired by Johnny and Joanna and their About You series, and wanted to do this on my own blog! I want to know more about YOU. I talk about myself probably a little too much on my blog, so why not switch it up?

Answer one question or answer them all 🙂

1. What is your job? Do you work full-time? Stay at home parent? Go to school? Is this your dream job?

2. What is your biggest pet peeve?

3. What are your financial goals?  To retire early?  Start your own business?  Pay off your house?

4. How much do you spend on food per month?

5. What would you do if you had no debt?  How much debt do you have?

6. What is your dream income/salary?

And here are my lovely answers:

1. I’m a full-time analyst and full-time side hustler 😉 Still unsure of what my dream job is…

2. My biggest pet peeve… Hmmmm… I have a long list: bad driving, people who don’t know the difference between “there,” “their” and “they’re”, or how about “it’s” and “its,” and so on, people who think I’m in middle school, and the list could go on for quite some time.

3. I have a lot of financial goals! I want to pay off my student loans, be financially independent and do what I love in life.

4. We spend too much… Lately we’ve been doing much, MUCH better and we are at around $700 a month for food. This includes going out to eat and drinks too though.

5. If I had absolutely no debt, I’d probably go crazy and reward myself (but not go back into debt!).

6. If my debt were gone (that includes no mortgage debt), I’m sure I could live on a small amount such as $40,000 and be perfectly happy.

I don't work but have a few side projects like a blog or developing, 90 acres of land, don't know what my dream job would be but this one is nice. We spend under $200 of food per month for two, I do most of it from scratch including bread and pizza dough.
I live well on about $1,000 per month but like to bring at least $5K to afford travel and treats here and there. I traveled 6 months last year around Europe, that was expensive.

I’m a long time reader who recently decided to start her own blog so I thought I’d also take the plunge and start commenting!

    1. I work in information management while studying for a master’s degree on the side

    2. People who don’t say please or thank you

    3. Currently just to pay off my student loan

    4. Probably around £100-£150 which is too much for one person really. Working on this 🙂

    5. I don’t think I’d do anything differently at this point in my life (my total debts are nearly £30k)

    6. I’d estimate £50k per annum to allow me to comfortably pay off my debts (plus save and travel!)

If all my debt magically disappeared I would probably upgrade my computer and get a bigger TV. I might also take some time off work and do some traveling 😀 It will probably take me awhile to pay off my $200,000 of debt, which doesn't even include my mortgage, but better to start now than later I suppose. My dream income is $150,000 a year. I think this number is achievable within the next 10 years if my side hustles continue to expand like yours 🙂 But once I retire I expect to be earning much less depending on my household situation at the time. Great questions.

I'm an accountant and I would definitely not call it my "dream job."

    6. What is your dream income/salary?

I would like to bring in over $100k/month through owning a small business. Ideally the small business would be able to run without me so that I can have a true 4-hour workweek 😉

    1. What is your job? Do you work full-time? Stay at home parent? Go to school? Is this your dream job?
I am an Office Manager (or whatever hat my boss seems to want me to wear at the moment) My husband works in food transportation – Not a truckdriver.

    2. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People that know better but do it anyway. This falls into so many categories…but they all fit.

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?
Right now, our goal is to pay off our debt.

    4. How much do you spend on food per month?
    About $200

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have?
If I had no debt. Well this is the big goal. I want to save enough money to retire. Pay cash for a small farm where living is inexpensive. Where I live now, not so much! But I'd like to buy a farm and board a few horses and enjoy my own a whole lot more.
The place would be in the mid west.

    6. What is your dream income/salary?
Enough. I really just want to live comfortably and a salary really doesn't give you comfortable. Right now we make a really good salary but I know that when the debts are paid, we could live on a lot less. And if the home was paid for….wow, even less.

My biggest pet peeve? Dunno… I have lots!

Financial goals? GET RID OF FIANCEE'S STUDENT LOANS!!!

We spend no more than $500/month on food… usually less.

If I had no debt… I'd have a lot more cash flow! We'd save more for retirement and enjoy more of our money. We have around 55k in student loans and 2 mortgages.

I have no dream income salary, my dream is enough cash to provide income enough to live off of without touching the principal 🙂

    1. I design and program algorithms for various business projects. It's a pretty good gig, though I'd prefer to do it for 3 hours/day instead of 8.
    2. Pet peeve? I dunno. Misusing specific words, I suppose.

    3. We'd like to have the freedom to quit our day jobs by the time we're 36.

    4. We were getting bad, but now we're getting it more under control. Food spending is running around $800/mo and we're hoping to get it a little lower still.

    5. Invest invest invest! We've got about $150K worth of debt right now, $100ish on the mortgage, and a $50K personal loan that we should have paid off by the end of the summer. =)

    2. My biggest pet peeve is people who scrape their teeth with their fork when they eat!!
    3. My financial goals are to pay off my student loan quickly, save and pay cash for my next two years of school, save for a house, and pay cash for a second hand car when the time comes.
    4. We spend $450 on food for the two of us, we're hoping to get that down to $320.
    5. If we had no debt we would save for a house. We both have student loans totaling $75,000. We're hoping to have my boyfriends paid off before I have to start paying mine off in two years.
    6. I could live off $50,000 easily.

    1. I'm a freelance video editor. It's not my dream job (although it was at one time). I think I'd rather have it as a hobby. Unfortunately I'm not really sure what I want to be doing now.

    2. One of my biggest pet peeves is when technology doesn't work. I just want things to work like they should. lol! I also hate when groups of slow walkers take up the entire sidewalk when I'm trying to pass.

    3. My financial goal is to be able to cover all my expenses and have plenty of money left over for my hobbies and travel…and also to feel very comfortable about my retirement savings.

    4. I spent $340 (and sometimes over that) per month on just me. I know it's a lot. But I hardly eat out.

    5. I have no debt. Knock on wood.

    6. My dream income would be $72 plus. I say that number because that's what I was making when I was laid off from my full time job. It was comfortable enough to live in LA..but I haven't come close as a freelancer to making that yet. 🙁

    3. Pay off my student loans, for sure!

    4. I live with my parents so they pay for my groceries, but I contribute around $200 a month for them.

    5. I have about 70,000+ in student loans. If I didn't have that debt, I wouldn't be living at home still and I'd find my own apartment (I;m working on this now by saving up!)

    6. I'm entry level, so I don't expect much right now, but I'd love enough to live comfortably and be able to buy little luxuries

    1. What is your job? Do you work full-time? Stay at home parent? Go to school? Is this your dream job?
I'm a full time Administrative Assistant for a software development event company. My dream job is to work at a book publishing company like House of Anansi or Penguin. I love books and being in that kind of environment would just make my day. 🙂

    2. What is your biggest pet peeve?
One- smokers. I can't stand them and I am always trying to get them to quit. Two- people wasting their days away when they could be doing something more productive. (They also complain about not having enough time to get things done). It's nice to relax and enjoy your day but you can't be doing that 24/7 when you have a pile of responsibilities waiting for you.

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?
My primary goal is to be financially free and only work if I choose to not because I have to. I'd love to open up a bookstore one day 🙂

    4. How much do you spend on food per month?
Including eating out and grocery shopping, I'd say around $150.

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have?
I would jump up in joy 🙂 haha. I would be able to save that money for a down payment for a house/retirement. I have a student loan that's around 12K and it's holding me back. If everything works out, it'll be gone by Dec 2013!

    6. What is your dream income/salary?
I don't have a dream income/salary. I'd say maybe 50-60k but that's just an estimate. At the end of the day, I want to have enough to live comfortably, have no debts, have enough passive income streams to have income coming in, and just enjoy life with family and friends.

    3. Be able to have enough eff you money that I can walk away from any job (getting closer each day!)

    4. More than we should, but it is trending in the right direction because eating out with a small child sucks

    5. Same thing I do now, only with more investing. Of course since my only debt is a small student loan that wouldn't really be that much more

    6. I'm pretty happy where we are now. We could live on less, but our income allows us to travel when we want to.

This includes student loan, 401k loan, car loans. What an ugly number. If I was debt free, I'd travel more and start saving more._6. My dream salary would around $70,000. 1. I currently work as an IT assistant full time. Not my dream job, haha. I also own a small business on the side that my girlfriend (Leslie) and I run together. Our dream "job" is to be entrepreneurs and investors. Independently wealthy 🙂

    2. My biggest pet peeve is when people tell you you can't live without debt…without being completely miserable. It's mind boggling how often I hear that on a day to day basis.

    3. My financial goals are to get out of debt, retire before I'm 30, and invest in real estate.

    4. Leslie and I spend about $160 on food each month. Last month we were over a little bit, but that's our goal amount.

    5. We currently have about $47,000 of debt we're paying down. If we were debt free we wouldn't live much differently than we are right now. Maybe invest a little more money or move into a slightly larger apartment. It's all about cashflow for us, so we would really want to focus on increasing that more than anything.

    6. My short-term income dream is $50-70,000 per year. With this much coming in every year, I wouldn't have to work at my job anymore and both Leslie and I can retire. Eventually I will be making over a million every year. Gotta stay ahead of inflation and taxes!

    1. I'm a bank teller. I used to work in healthcare. I don't know if this is my dream job but I really like it for now!
    2. Oh lord. I have a long list of peeves! hahaha. One of my biggest though is ignorance, in every sense of the word. 😉
    3. Hm. Financial goals. Short term goals are to have enough income to pay our debts (house and car) and prepare to buy a new car and start a family. Long term, I want to make sure I'm comfortable in retirement.
    4. No debt?!? Travel! Our mortgage and car payments could quickly add up to a nice trip to Europe!
    5. Ideal income? This is a slippery slope. Like I said, I want to have enough to be comfortable but not so much that I start wasting money on silly things. I'd also love to have enough income to have nice savings accounts for my kids when they get older. I'd also like to have enough to help family members in need. Get I'd better hop to it on that side hustle! 😉

    1. What is your job? Do you work full-time? Stay at home parent? Go to school? Is this your dream job?

I work from home. That is the structure for my "dream job." 🙂
    2. What's your pet peeve?

Kids asking one parent, getting a "no," and asking another to try to get a different answer. That is death.

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?

Pay off house, do remodeling/additions, and have a substantial retirement savings.

    4. How much do you spend on food per month?

    $220 for a family of 5.

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have?

Invest in real estate and get some remodeling done. We have the house, still–we've paid a bit less than half the note in 6 years, but that includes the down payment.

    6. What is your dream income/salary?

    A lot. 🙂

    1. I'm a full-time health law attorney. It's kind of boring, lol.
    2. I have several pet peeves – people misusing apostrophes to designate the possessive when they shouldn't, drivers not using the turn signal, and people who park poorly and take up two parking spots!
    3. My financial goals include paying off the mortgage, own an investment property, and retire early.
    4. I average about $250 a month on groceries and eating out combined.
    5. My only debt right now is my mortgage at $99,000. If I had no debt, I'd be putting more money into retirement savings and my travel fund.
    6. My dream salary would be $70,000 because I've read several studies that say that's the level where people are happiest. I would be able to save more than I do now and that salary level likely doesn't come with a highly stressful job schedule.

    1. I'm a sourcing analyst training for a sourcing manager position. I'm hoping I can get promoted to the manager position in one year. Hustling to do this. Usual promotions come at the of your third year. But I have seen others get promoted before then.
    2. Ignorance. Absolutely hate ignorance. Especially when people have no motivation to learn, and rather remain ignorant.
    3. Right now? Buy a house, save for retirement, invest in taxable account, help mom with money, and travel.
    4. It's pretty sad. I think we spend like $800 for 2 people…. we barely eat out.
    5. We have not debt. All we do is save.
    6. $1 million a year. Especially if I didn't have to work at all 🙂

    1. I'm unemployed and can't find a job. I am considering applying for SSI. I spend most of my days filling out surveys for minimal rewards and cleaning up after my husband and 3 cats. I would love to become a successful freelancer but I struggle to find the passion I once had in creating the only thing I was once good at.
    2. People who can't sit still.
    3. To be debt free and one day to actually be able to save for retirement.
    4. My husband and I generally spend anywhere from $500-800 on food, drinks and dining out (does not include the $300ish that is deducted from my husband's pay for meals on his ship). If it was just me, I'd probably spend about $100-200 a month.
    5. I would finally be able to start saving for retirement. I would also save to purchase things like a new/used vehicle, a couch, and other furniture we don't have. Last month I had about $100,300 in debt. I know it's now under $100,000. Long way to go yet.
    6. Dream income…endless? Haha. I've never had a full-time job or career so I could probably be satisfied with $30,000 if my husband maintained his current income. More is always welcome though!

    Cool post idea!

    1. I work in a startup software company. That includes anything and everything. My dream job is to be an hourly financial planner for new parents.

    2. I hate people who cut in front of a clear line in traffic, like when you're waiting to get on or off the highway and someone zooms way up to the front from another lane. I can't stand that arrogance.

    3. Right now I'm working on starting a business.

    4. About $550 per month on food between me, my wife and son.

    5. We have no debt, so I guess the same as what we're doing now. Trying to save as much as possible.

    6. Great question. It really depends on where we live. If we stay in Boston it would probably be around $100-120K. If we move to Pensacola, where my wife is from, it will be much lower.

    1. I work as a server/bartender. I love my job. I am in school for my dream job. I should be done in a year.

    2. Negative people. Slow walkers.

    3. To pay off my student loans by December 2014. To for now begin investing in retirement, later max out retirement savings. To pay off my home by 2025, 12 years from now.

    4. $400, includes dining out/drinks. For one single person in a large metropolitan city. I eat mostly local, organic produce and meats. And as a runner I eat a lot.

    5. I have $14000 in student loans and $125k mortgage debt. If I had no debt I would invest and donate more to charities.

    6. My dream salary is $70k, hope to attain it within the next five years.

Thanks for sharing Michelle! Here are my answers:

    1. I work full-time as a Business Intelligence Developer. My dream is to work part-time as an adjunct professor at a local college.

    2. Without a doubt my biggest pet peeve is when people don't follow through with things. If you are going to tell me something will be done within a given time frame, do it. I have no problem if people tell me ahead of time that something can't be done or it will take a long time, but don't tell me something and then not do it!

    3. My current financial goal is to build several income streams so I am not 100% dependent on salary from my job.

    4. Approximately I spend ~$400-$500 per month on food for our family.

    5. I have no consumer debt, but I have two mortgages. If my mortgages were paid off I would invest a lot more and travel a lot more.

    6. I have a goal to reach the $100,000 per year demographic. Hopefully that will happen within the next 5-7 years. I don't need that much to live, but it would just be cool to be in that category.

    3. 1st – pay off remaining debt. 2nd – buy a house. 3rd – have a family and save for their college education. 4th – retire early.
    4. I spend about $400 on groceries and eating out. I'd like that to be much lower.
    5. I need to boost my savings in order to buy a house first then I might buy myself something nice. I have $2500 left.
    6. Hmmm, I don't know. I seem to be doing ok with my current salary but maybe $75-100K.

    Love it!!

    1. What is your job? Do you work full-time? Stay at home parent? Go to school? Is this your dream job?
I am a "Theatre in Education Coordinator", and also part-time bartender. I *thought* this was my dream job, but now I know better and I'm desperately trying to get out.

    2. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Waiting an excessive amount of time.

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?
Right now, my goals are pretty modest: Get out of debt (student loan and car loan only). I need to find a better paying job so that I can have some semblance of a work-life balance again. Once I achieve that, I imagine getting a house would be on the list.

    4. How much do you spend on food per month?
Too much. $300-$400 a month, and it's just me. 75% of that is on fast food…. ugh…. it's embarrassing and disgusting to admit that.

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have?
Between my student loan and my car loan, my debt is approx. $70,000. If this were gone, I'd work much MUCH less, and volunteer somewhere important to me much, much more.

    6. What is your dream income/salary?
Geez… tough question. Honestly… even netting $3000/month would be incredible and would get my life on the track I want. (Is that really all it would take?!?!)

    2. What is your biggest pet peeve? Currently? People who text and drive.

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house? Retire early with enough money for travel

    4. How much do you spend on food per month? Budget is $600 for 2 adults, 1 teen, and a 9 year old

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have? Our only debt is our mortgage. Would travel more, save for early retirement and college for the kids

    6. What is your dream income/salary? My dream would be to have no salary and be retired 😉

You should try eMeals! It costs between $3-7 a month depending on your plan. I have it and it costs around $50-60 a week average for groceries!

    1. What is your job? Do you work full-time? Stay at home parent? Go to school? Is this your dream job?
I work from home. I work as much as I want by owning my own business. Even though, I have been slacking majorly, and I am nowhere near where I want to be.

    2. What is your biggest pet peeve?
I have way too many to list!

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?
To pay off debt. When we do buy a house and newer car, pay that off. Continue to be able to stay at home and work from home.

    4. How much do you spend on food per month?
$200-300. I rarely eat out. When I have recently, my friends have paid for it, because it has been special occasions like my birthday, etc.

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have?
If we had no debt, we would immediately buy a house and/or newer car (I've been driving the same car for 11 years).

    6. What is your dream income/salary?
At least $100,000 for me (not including my husband's salary)

    1. I am a full time nurse. I love being a nurse. One day i would like to have kids and still work full time. I am still a new nurse, so my dream is to garner my experience and work happily in a hospital full time.

    2. Where to begin? I am like you with the incorrect uses of a word. The big one that gets be is to, too, and two.

    3. My house is not my dream house, but I am using it as an investment house. I hope that it works out. I hope to remain happy and healthy so as not to need my emergency fund any time soon and to retire comfortably.

    4. There is me and my husband and including meals out we probably try and spend 150 dollars a month. I try to plan out our meals to help us.

    5. I have never had debt until I bought a house. I am fine having this debt.

    6. I won't lie, I am a materialistic person. I will never get rich being a nurse, so I hope that my husband would magically make 300,000! That isn't realistic, but hey, a girl can dream! I will never live above my means.

    Great answers!

    1. Full-time analyst could be a description of me as well. I didn't think it would be my "dream job" but I definitely enjoy it a lot

    2. Pet peeve… maybe people who are very proud and passionate about their ignorance

    3. My lifetime personal finance goal is to get to a point where I can take money out of the plan — not necessarily that I can spend without caring, but that between savings, passive income, and my lifestyle, I can make every decision without worrying about money. The medium- and long- term goal is to first get to a positive net worth and then pay off debt entirely

    4. $300

    5. Debt is so ingrained in what I do that I barely know what I'd do if I woke up tomorrow morning and had no debt. I think I'd keep doing what I was doing for a month while thinking long and hard about my options.

    6. I don't dream of incomes…

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?- Save more for retirement and do some travelling again.

    4. How much do you spend on food per month? $235 for 2 people is our budget with a $20 stockpile budget

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have? We would travel. We have no debt and should have the mortgage paid in the next month or so.

    6. What is your dream income/salary? I don't really think I have a dream salary to be honest.

I am a primary school teacher. I quite like it,but it isn't my dream. My dream would be to be a psychologist, or full-time blogger.

    2. What is your biggest pet peeve?

    3. What are your financial goals? To retire early? Start your own business? Pay off your house?

To get my debts paid by the end of 2013 and build up enough to work part-time.

    4. How much do you spend on food per month?

Hmmm between $700 and $800 for a family of four, four dogs and two cats.

    5. What would you do if you had no debt? How much debt do you have?

I would do volunteer work at the Salvation Army thrift stor. I don't have a mortgage, I own my home BUT I do have stupid credit card debt. Not for long though.

    6. What is your dream income/salary?

100K whilst I have debt, after that 30k would be heaps.

1)I work as a cost analyst.
    2) skip
    3) The current goals are to pay off all debt and max out our TFSAs and RRSPs. I'd like to be self-employed one day, with a business that isn't 100% dependent on me.
    4) $600-700/month, plus restaurants, for 2 of us. Food is more in Canada and we like to eat well, not a lot of processed garbage.
    5) No debt? Save lots so I can reach Findependence day and do what I want! For absolutely everything, we owe about $125K. By the end of 2014 we should owe $0, except for the leveraged investments (~20K) which have tax advantages here.
    6) Probably 200-250K each… but I'm sure that bar will move higher as we get closer to that 😉
