Has anyone ever done once a month cooking? Do you know of any good links for beginners?

I’m thinking about doing this because the BF wants more snacks and quick meals that he can make really quick for when I’m not home or for when we are both really lazy to make anything that night. I plan on going grocery shopping tonight for things on my list that I don’t have but I need. But I’m not sure on how I should be freezing everything and storing it all? I’m completely clueless, so please HELP!

Also, I went out to eat again. My friends will be the death of me but at least we have fun.

Another thing, I got a Northface sweater that was originally $150 for only $40 at the Plato’s near my house. It had the tags on it and everything, and I sold stuff when I went in so I didn’t pay a dime! I need winter clothes and I’m sure I’ll wear this Northface all the time.

Also, I caved, I went to JCrew and bought clothes, but that’s just a sad story of my shopping habit so I’ll save that for another day. I didn’t spend too much, but I needed work clothes and just more casual stuff also.

Here are a couple of sites that I refer to sometimes :http://www.everythingmom.com/organizing/freezer-cooking-tips-on-freezing-and-planning-frozen-meals.htmlhttp://onceamonthmom.com/I know they are for families but you can pick and choose what you like :)Having friends that you could do this with and split the costs and the meals and the work would make the day a lot more fun! 🙂

Not sure if you have access to a barbecue, but we typically buy a bunch of chicken breasts (we get ours at Costco) – 10 lbs or so – and my husband marinates them and then barbecues it all. We freeze the chicken in individual serving bags. They are perfect to add to recipes (saves time not to have to cook the chicken), add to salads, fill out a side dish like a rice or lighter pasta dish, etc.I also make this recipe a lot – I double it and then freeze the other half .http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/italian-baked-chicken-and-pastina-recipe/index.html

I don't have any good OAMC links, but if you google that, they'll all come up. Also, check your local library for books. I think most people use the tin containers for casseroles, dishes, etc.. I'd invest in sone good reusable plastic containers for it. North face is a great brand, high quality & will last you forever! Great deal!! 🙂

That is a great idea!! While my husband and I are really good about not going out to eat very much (so far this month we've ordered pizza once and went out to dinner with another couple last night), but when we don't have enough time to cook a proper meal it can put us in a tough spot. I've been saying for ages that I want to cook and freeze big batches of soup for the winter, but I'd love to see what other ideas you come up with!
