I love it when people hit my car and drive away. It’s wonderful!

And my car was hit this week.  AND the person drove away and didn’t leave a note or anything.  I don’t think I’ve mentioned this to you guys before, but my brand new car has been hit over 10 times already since I’ve gotten it.  (Ok so it’s not brand new, it’s a couple years old, but I bought it brand new!) I’m really starting to get sick of this.

Over 10 times my car was parked when it was hit (and they ALL drove away) and 2 times I was rear-ended in traffic.  The one accident was really scary and I still get shaken up whenever anyone is too close to the back of my car.  I was sitting in traffic (complete dead-stop) and this guy enters the highway going really fast.  The police said he was going over 60 miles per hour.  And I was at a complete stop, so when he hit me, my car went flying into a ditch.  I saw him coming and it was truely terrifying because I thought I was going to die, but all I could do was brace myself because there were cars all around me.  I tried turning into the shoulder of the highway and turned my wheel to the right so when he hit me, I wouldn’t completely slam into the person in front of me.

And after the guy hit me, he started driving again and drove in front of me so that when the police came, it would look like everything was my fault.  He even told the cops that it was my fault! The cops and firefighters didn’t believe me but then one of the cops noticed that the guys license plate was STUCK TO THE BACK OF MY CAR.  So then there was proof and the guy was in BIG trouble for lying to the police and firefights and wasting their time. Oh yeah and insurance wouldn’t say that my car was totaled. So now when I try to sell it, it’s worth less than a car that hasn’t been hit. So that was a bad day.  I needed the whole back half of my car replaced and it was around $15,000 to fix.

Those two times it was completely the other person’s fault. The other 14 times though I have had to pay everything out of pocket because I don’t want my insurance to go up.  Everyone says my car must be bad luck and that I should get something new.  I’m very tempted because my friend has the same car as me and her car has been hit NINE times! Anyone else have such bad luck with their car?

Sorry about the rant everyone. And now below is something to make you happy.

That is definitely some bad luck you have with cars. I can't even believe each and every time the person drove away and even worst is when that guy tried to pin the blame on you after endangering your life in such a way.I don't know what to tell you. Just try and be careful.

Oh wow Michelle, I think if I were you I'd be driving a tank! But how rude to hit a parked car and then leave…so many times! What is this world coming to? I haven't had that much bad luck but in late Aug. when I needed to leave PEI and head home someone in a truck took too sharp of a turn in front of me and ripped off the front bumper. It was parked too but the guy came into the pub and found me (knew it was my car because of the Ontario plates)and once I got an estimate he paid me cash to get it fixed. I don't know where you live but I'm not moving there!

Ugghh that sucks! I can't believe the other story about the guy trying to lie about what happen. That's crazy. Your car does sound like bad luck. I hope you can get it taken care of without too much expense.

That sounds terrible, Michelle. My husband thinks you need to put a trailer hitch on the back of your car so it will tear up the other car too. I'm so, so sorry. :(Love the puppies though.-Rhonda

Jeez Louise where do you live? That's terrible! I do like Dwell in Possibility's idea however… I usually don't believe in good luck or bad luck but after that many hits, you may want to get rid of the car just in case…

Ouch! That's awful, but the guy trying to lie (and getting caught!) definitely tops the cake. So sorry you've had to deal with all of this, but what make is your car (so I can stay away from it when I go car-shopping to replace my dead one)? All kidding aside, I'm glad you're ok with such happenings around your car. And don't worry, karma should come back and bite those idiots who hit and ran in the rear end. Perhaps its time to invest in some security cameras… or find a safer parking space.

That's a perfet idea! A trailer hitch would solve a lot of my anger. And I park so far away from everyone else so I don't understand how it always happens. It's gotten so bad, that when I go out to eat or go somewhere where my car can be viewable, I will only park if I can see my car from where I sit. It's really sad. I've heard of people putting cameras inside their cars and that's what I'm thinking I might have to resort to.

Ugh! That stinks! It's really horrible the lack of responsibility the other drivers are showing. I'm SO glad that the licence plate stuck to your car so that jerk could get caught! I hope he got extra charges for lying to authorities on top of anything else!Honestly if I were you I'd stop fixing anything that doesnt affect drivability and safety. You just make it pretty for the next schmuck to bang up.

Oh trust me I think I've only fixed it once or twice because it was bad, but all the other times I just left it for the next person who hits me to have to pay for everything. So right now I have a dent on my 3 dents passenger door, a back bumper that needs to be replaced and a dent on my drivers side as well. AHHH I just hope someone totals it soon.

oh no thats terrible! gosh there must be some bad drivers where you are. (I used to hope someone would steal an old car we had, I'd leave it parked on the road unlocked even, but no such luck!)

The only reason I mentioned the camera was because when my brother and his wife moved after getting married, their car was hit and run in the middle of the day while they were watching tv, then vandalized twice during the following weeks, overnight. They didn't take anything, and they were simply just trying to… actually, I am not sure what they were trying to do other than harass of some sort. But they got them on camera the next time they did this (it was right before they moved to a more permanent house) and handed it to the police. They carried on afterwards and they didnt have to deal with any backfiring from these juvenile vandals. It was a nice/quiet/out-of-the-way neighborhood too…If you're hoping for your car to be totalled, well… I hope you're not in when that happens!

@Tanner, I'm sorry to hear about your brother and his wife! Sounds like they have bad car luck also. The police have told me to put a camera, but I'm not sure what the cost would be and how many I would need to catch an area around my car from all angls, sounds like a hassle. Luckily no one has ever broken into my car, but the BF has had his car broken into.

This is insane! It sounds like Boston drivers–I had never had an accident until moving here and then my car was hit 5-6 times within the first 2 years of driving here (none my fault!). The most recent one was a woman in a grocery store parking lot that backed right into my as I was driving through the lot–umm, hello rear-view mirror!Sorry to hear about this. I get fired up when I hear about hit & runs, no matter how minimal the damage may be, there's no excuse for that kind of behavior! Good luck with the repairs.
