I got the idea for this post from House Full of Searls. Great blog, check it out!
5 Things I Did That Were NOT Frugal
- Went to Oktoberfest and spent too much money. Beers were $9 a piece!
- Went to Qdoba (but it was cheap so that’s my justification)
- Me and the BF like to drive around for fun (ok well he likes to drive and I just like to sit in the passenger seat), and I guess now that gas prices are down a little bit we are justifying this expense, but we really shout not be driving
- Realized I bought a Groupon that has expired now. It’s still valid for the amount I bought it for though, so I still have $20 to spend in the store, so I guess it’s not entirely wasted
- Bought a new swimsuit (it’s super cute though and was only $7 on sale at Target)
5 Things I Did That WERE Frugal!
- Ate in nearly everyday this week
- Brought my lunch to work everyday
- Made treats for the dogs
- Kept the air off except for the weekend (it was around 90 to 95 degrees with lots of humidity)
- Had people over on Friday night so that we wouldn’t all be wasting money on over-priced drinks
What have you done this week that was frugal or not?
The things I did that were frugal this week:- By bicycle to work- Wear an extra cardigan or jumper in stead of putting on the heating- Eating leftovers from the other dayThe things I did that weren't frugal this week:- Shopping at the Action (it's an cheap store) but you will always come home with stuff you don't need.I really like your blog!
I'd say a $7 swimsuit is pretty darn frugal! ;-)I wasn't very frugal at the grocery store this weekend. Total bill was $139. But it was a stock-up-on-non-perishables kind of trip, so lower grocery bills for the remainder of the month should balance it out.But other than that I've been frugal because of my schedule. Hardly any free time to spend money!! Seriously, I spent a grand total of $5 of my personal spending money so far this month. Our combined spending for the month so far is at less than $30!
Oktoberfest is a complete budget killer but for some reason we keep coming back. Once a year celebration perhaps? Even though you weren't frugal in certain areas you made up for it in the other areas that you were frugal in. No worries..
Thanks everyone! And yeah the swimsuit is frugal but I won't be able to wear it for a long time! Maybe I need to plan a vacation so that I can wear it (just kidding). And yeah Oktoberfest killed us.
Love this post! I actually consider myself pretty frugal, and my friends/family always give me a hard time about being so cheap. I'm not cheap, but I am smart with my money! Looking forward to following your blog!
