Due to the economy, many people have had to trim their budgets.  Have you done any trimming? I bet most of you have.

Here are some of the things that I have lowered recently:

  • For some reason, when I bought a new car, full coverage cost WAY less than just liability for my super old car.  I just increased my comprehensive deductible to $1,000, and this trimmed another $40 off every 6 months.  Now my bill is only around $350 for 6 months for a new car (with full coverage).
  • I cut my cable by a tad.  I eliminated HBO and Showtime, which saved me an extra $20 a month.   I sure do miss True Blood and all of my other favorite shows though.
  • I also switched around my cell phone plan and found a 17% off discount through the BF’s job, which saves around $20 a month.

Your turn:  What have you done recently to save money?

I moved a week ago to save money. I pretty much have my budget cut to the bone with no cable and a basic cell phone plan. Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comments. I just became a follower on yours. I'm glad you started the blog.

Did you have to move far? And I know I can cut my budget more, I know I should. I've been thinking about getting rid of my car, but I only have around $6,000 left in payments, so I almost just want to pay it off and then keep it forever since it's still pretty new and should last for awhile. Thanks for visiting my blog also!

I have cut back on drinking anything except water when I go out for meals. This brings the bill down quite a bit.

Thanks Laura!@Shoe.Gal, I almost always just get water when I go out for meals. Drinks are so expensive and add up quickly.

We try and find the best frugal options we can… If we can make it instead of buy it, we do (like house hold cleaners)… and we are really trying to be good about eating what we buy so it doesn't get wasted (and therefore loose money)… but I don't know if we have cut anything out We have been living on one income the whole time we have been together (dating, engaged, and now married)… and it was only recently that my husband was able to get a job… So for us, we are playing a bit of catch up and spending more then normal and slowly reining our spending back in. (Lots of new job costs like extra gas, supplies, and packing hearty lunches.)
