As the winter months approach a great many of us are looking forward to Christmas, but to be quite honest for many it’s a really bad time of the year especially for low income families, and the need to earn a little extra at this time of year is important for many. [Read more…]
I recently heard about a new company called FinMason. They understand that there is a retirement crisis going on, and that the majority of people do not save anywhere near the amount of money that they need to save.
Kendrick Wakeman, founder and CEO of FinMason, understands this. In his article on CNBC, Risk tolerance is a blind spot for ‘accidental’ investors, he says:
Whether investors are saving for retirement, a college education for their kids or their first home, it's never been more important for them to have a strategic understanding of risk tolerance in order to meet their goals.
This is magnified when you consider that many households have become investors by “accident” or are saving for retirement via their employer's 401(k) plan, with little or no financial training.
For those with retirement in mind and a far shorter runway from which to build wealth — or rebuild it, in the event of an unexpected downturn — it's only that much more critical to have a view into the different scenarios that could alter both their near- and intermediate-term plans.
As a personal finance blogger, I come across many great websites and apps. I always try to stay updated on the latest and greatest apps, money-saving companies, and more, as I believe they can help a person improve their financial situation.
Whether they make managing your money easier, allow you to make or save more money, simplify financial tasks, or something else, there are many benefits to all of the companies that I have listed below.
Every little bit counts and taking part in many of the websites or apps below may be things that you may not have tried yet. You never know how much money they may allow you to save or make, which may completely change how you think about your finances.
There are affiliate links in this blog post, but these are all products and services that I recommend. I wouldn’t put anything in a blog post that I haven’t verified and/or personally used.

Just a few years ago, one of the top ways I earned extra money was by taking part in free online survey sites.
I didn’t make millions from taking online surveys, but I did earn a good side income by doing some relatively easy work.
Back then, I signed up for as many survey sites as I could (you can read more about why you should too below) and due to that I was able to complete at least a few surveys each week.
Like I said, it wasn’t enough to make me rich, but there were many times where I would receive an easy $100 check in the mail from completing surveys in a one-month period. The work is easy and it can all be done from home on your own schedule and timeline, so it's a win-win!
Below are some of my tips for making online surveys a side hustle of yours. Plus, I have listed six of the best online survey sites for you to join. [Read more…]
If you have internet, a cell phone, cable or satellite, a home phone, satellite radio, insurance, or something else, you may want to see if there is anything you can negotiate on.
In many cases, you can negotiate!
If you don't like negotiating with others, you're no good at it, or if you just don't have the time, you may want to look into BillFixers.
BillFixers is a relatively new company I recently came across. BillFixers has been around for around one year and already has helped negotiate over $125,000 in savings for consumers, which comes out to an average of around $300 per person.
Some of the companies that BillFixers will try to negotiate a lower monthly payment for include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, AT&T U-Verse, DirecTV, DISH, Verizon, AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile, Optimum, CenturyLink, Cox, SiriusXM, Charter, Geico, and USAA. [Read more…]
